Mere dil main aaj kya hai ?

After Raj kapoor and Guru Dutt if anybody has continuously touched the romance with elegance for more than three decades, it was Yash Raj Chopra. He made one of the most melodious romantic movies. He used the sweetness of the music to swirl the emotions.

His big brother BR Chopra was obsessed with grandeur, perhaps he learnt from his big brother to put grandeur with big stars, Switzerland like locations, in spite of all this,  in his narrative he rarely forgot to keep the  emotions raw and simple which has the power to relate with audience. There are many great songs in his movies. But in this moment my mood is in favor of the song from his offbeat movie of the 70s, his first solo venture DAAG. Mere dil main aaj kya hai , tu kahe tou main bata doon.

 RIP- Yash Raj Chopra
My fav line:

Lyrics-

SONG OF LOVE

This is 100th post , I have selected the love song that is part of my life in some special way. It will remain secret for few days , I wish to write about it when I will be really deeply engulfed by love. Till then a love poem by Rumi.

Songs of the soul

In every breath
if you're the center
of your own desires
you'll lose the grace
of your beloved

But if in every breath
you blow away
your self claim
the ecstasy of love
will soon arrive

In every breath
if you're the center
of your own thoughts
the sadness of autumn
will fall on you

But if in every breath
you strip naked
just like a winter
the joy of spring
will grow from within

All your impatience
comes from the push
for gain of patience
let go of the effort
and peace will arrive

All your unfulfilled desires
are from your greed
for gain of fulfillments
let go of them all
and they will be sent as gifts

Fall in love with
the agony of love
not the ecstasy
then the beloved
will fall in love with you
            Jalal-u-din  RUMI

It has been long since I have promised this post; I got the punch of emotion many times to write this post but could not write for one or other reasons.  Yesterday while travelling I realized, what we imagine as a perfect time, sometime never comes. It is not necessary that life would give you every chance. So do it now otherwise never. And it becomes absolutely necessary when someone is waiting…
Before I declare the -song of love-. let me say  my heart  that felt the new dimension of love which got revealed through suffering I witnessed. The love left abandoned; when shook my soul; I find the breadth of love that is infinite. We often hear about depth of love, but love`s depth has some bottom but breadth is infinite. It wraps you; it engulfs you, or simply I say -wherever you may go you find it waiting for you.
Being in love means; living in a different plane. In ordinary plane, we can imagine about love but love`s salt is known to only those who have tasted it. LOVE is for blessed few, It is for those; who choose to earn sufferings for a thing; logical mind says not so worthy. But they do not heed to mind and listen to their heart that says- this is the ultimate desire, if it is not worth possessing what else is?
Now, The song of love. It is part of my life. When I purposed my love, after accepting my proposal next day she asked me- to what song you would relate your love for me?
I said- it’s my favorite love song that perfectly matches my feelings at the moment.

This song from pen of Gulzar in a Gulzar directed movie Andhi  is matchless ,poured feeling of love in a different mould but in a perfect way and RD Burman gave the words their true spirit through his music and Lata and kishore  together are always magical.
This song transports me to a different world. I feel like being a pair of free birds is on their wings with hallucination of love in their hearts.
 Amo Shum!

SONG OF WISDOM

Shrimad Bhagvad Gita tells there are only two ways to realize God. One is gyan-marg(path of wisdom ) and other is bhakti marg(path of devotion).if someone asks which one is better, answer is bhakti marg, reason - it is simple & short ,one has to unconditionally  devote oneself to God. But gyan marg is reaching to God by knowledge and intelligence and it is not possible for everyone to go through this long path.  I believe ultimately both paths get merged. As both reach to love, ultimate wisdom is love. If intelligence is not deep rooted in the soil of love, its mere an intelligence it’s not wisdom and it would never realize God. Similarly if Bhakti is not engulfed by love, it’s not a true Bhakti.
Intelligence is very useful thing but has a limit but love is infinite. There are two people I can remember for being ultimate in their field. The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, the ultimate intellect but his intelligence could not save even his own balance of mind, he lived like a mental in last days of his life, other is almost illiterate Indian saint Kabir full of wisdom, his Bhakti was deep rooted in love, till last moment of life he never lost his mind, he died in Maghar just to teach people that dying in any place does not matter but your good deeds are the only earnings that go with you. So it does not matter whether you die in Kashi or maghar (It was believed that if one dies in Kashi- goes to paradise and if one dies in Maghar – goes to hell).

Why this long talk about wisdom & love before a song? You may ask.   I have to select a song for 100th post. I thought a lot, two songs ultimately surfaced on my mind. One is philosophical /wisdom song and other is love song.  Both of these songs  entangle with my existence. Ultimately love song got the 100th position. But 99th position is not less important as in this whole universe nothing is absolute save God and love is not different from God .so anything pure in this world is 99 as 100 is God only.
So my 99th  is      SONG OF WISDOM & 100th  will be SONG OF LOVE

SONG OF WISDOM is  AYE DIL- E- NADAN by Lata Ji from the movie Razia Sultan. The words of wisdom are by Jan Nisar Akhtar. This song is timeless, the words, voice and music make it rarest of the rare GEM. I have not heard any other song that starts with sound of  santoor.  Khayyam sahib at the end of his career has given this precious gift to Hindi Cinema Music.

My favourite line is-
Arzoon ne har kisi dil ko dard bantein hain, kitne ghayal hain kitnet bismil hain,  iss khudai mai ek tu kya hai?
(Desires are the reason of sorrow, your pain and suffering is too small, there are uncounted people who are suffering the pain and grief in the kingdom of God.)

aye dil-ye-naadaan  aye dil-ye-naadaan aarzoo kya hai?
 zoostazoo kya hai?
hum bhatakate hain, kyon bhatakate hain dashta-o-seharaa mein
aisa lagata hai, mauj pyaasi hai apane dareeyaa mein
kaisee uljhan hai, kyon ye ulajhan hai
ek saaya sa, rubaru kya hai
kyaa qyamat hai, kya musibat hai
kah nahin sakatey  kis ka aramaan hai
zindagee jaise khoyee khoyee hai, hairaan hairaan hai
ye zameen chup hai, aasamaan chup hai
fir ye dhadakan see chaar su kyaa hai
aye dila-ye-naadaan ayesi raahon mein kitaney kaante hain
aarazooon ne har kisi dil ko dard baante hain
kitaney ghaayal hain, kitaney bismil hain is khudaee mein yek tu kya
hai?  Yek tu kya hai?

vairiya ve !

Today ma bringing a song which remained in my vault of memory from the moment  I watched the movie –Naam-, this song never got the public  attention perhaps due to more prominent song in the movie -chhithi ayi hai- by- Pankaj Udhas . This song penetrated my heart; I felt the pain of that woman who felt cheated in the story.
This song is unparallel in showing a deep anguish of a woman who feels cheated but still has faith in her love.  Some time life makes u feel some feelings more deeply.  I  salute to the lyricist to capture this feminine emotion. Lata`s voice here is entirely different, the song has  a unique pitch that goes well with the kind of emotion the voice is dealing with.
Though each and every word of the song touches core of the heart.
But
vairiya ve !  -(  oh enemy!) –– she calls him enemy not in feeling of hate but out of sorrow dipped in deep love.
The pleading lines by her:
Yahan nahi chalta jor dilon ka yahan dastoor chaltey hain ,
Gall sunn sajna chal mere balma, duniya se door chaltey hain.
These lines of the song go deep down and stirs me.

lyrics
Ghulam  farida dil othey deyiye ..jithey agla kadar vi janey.

Vairiya ve..ho ho  kiya  kya kasoor maine tera ve,
Chahey jo saluk karr, mujhey manzoor karr
jurm jarror duss tuu mera ve,
Vairiya ve..
Akhion main buss ke, akhion se duss ke, leta nahin hans ke salaam tuu
Itna tou kaam kar mujhey badnaam kar, koi bhi laga ke ilzaam tu,
Karr kucch bahana,

Achhha kiya tuney tod  diya,  tuney, dil mera bada magroor tha, apni wafa pe sarmo haya pe  kabhi mujhey kitna garoor tha , kadmo main  tere rakh diya sarr le toota garur buss mera ve.
Vairiya ve…
Yahan nahi chalta jor dilon ka yahan dastoor chaltey hain ,
Gall sunn sajna chal mere balma, duniya se door chaltey hain,
Yahan nahi rahna ,Itna tou kahna
Karr manzoor buss mera ve.
Vairiya ve….
